Fresh off the back of launching Chapter 5, Season 1, Epic Games is back with another major release within the world of Fortnite. LEGO Fortnite has a December 7 release date on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Android and PC. The launch of the new LEGO-based game mode will be preceded by a period of server downtime, which begins at 8am GMT UK time. While there’s no official server downtime schedule, the game is likely to be taken offline for a couple of hours, which means you should be able to start playing LEGO Fortnite at around 10 GMT.
The news was announced by Epic Games on X (formerly Twitter), alongside confirmation of when matchmaking will be disabled.
“The adventure is building…” reads an Epic tweet. “Downtime begins at 3 AM ET with matchmaking disabled shortly beforehand.”
Indeed, as you can see from the tweet above, matchmaking will be disabled at around 7.30am.
The hotly anticipated LEGO Fortnite in-game experience is described as “ultimate survival crafting LEGO adventure”.
“It introduces vast, open worlds where the magic of LEGO building and Fortnite collide,” Epic explains.
“Designed for people of all ages to enjoy together, the game will encourage creativity, experimentation, and collaboration through play.”
Judging by the official cinematic trailer, LEGO Fortnite looks like it might give Minecraft a run for its money.
The gameplay appears to combine town building with exploration, crafting, scavenging and survival.
