Thanks to a new mod, Minecraft players can now enjoy a much more flashy and satisfying introduction to new games with an animated main menu. Released over a decade ago, the procedurally generated crafting game of exploration and building is still going strong with a devoted fan base and an active modding community. Modding has been a core part of the game from the beginning and, indeed, helped shape Minecraft’s development history. This modding continues with great new additions, tweaks, and changes being introduced all the time.
Many mods introduce new content to Minecraft, allowing for new creations or even changing the story, theme, or gameplay in some way. Others, however, are more about improving how the game functions or simply making the experience smoother or nicer in some way. While less dramatic or substantive than some others, these mods are still welcome additions to fans of the game.
This week, just such a mod was introduced by noted modding team LabyMod. Dubbed LabyMod 4, this new mod provides a complete redesign of the Minecraft main menu. The new menu features a more lively background of a tunnel with characters and mine carts moving through it. The camera even moves as different options are selected, providing closeups of different aspects of the scene.
