When you’re playing Minecraft online, whether its with your friends or on a public server, the first thing you’ll notice is that everyone has their username on top of their head. And that includes you. So if you no don’t like yours for whatever reason, be it that it’s no longer to your liking or it’s outdated, or even if you had no idea that’s what it was, there’s way to change it to something more appropriate for you.
The first thing you have to consider is that there are two different versions of the Minecraft, and all of the platforms play on one or the other:
- Bedrock is the version on Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo, IOS, and Android. PC players can also choose to play this one, as this is the one that allows for crossplay.
- Minecraft: Java Edition is available as an option for PC players, but is also the only way to play the game on Mac or Linux. There is no crossplay in it, but coop is still available.
How to change your username on Minecraft: Java Edition
- Go to the official Minecraft website, and log into your Microsoft account
- Once logged in, click on the “My Games” tab
- Click on the “Minecraft: Java Edition” icon
- Select the “Profile Name” option
- Enter your new username, and click on “Change Profile Name”
You can change your username as many times as you want for free, but remember that you can only do so once every 30 days.
