Jack Black has been soaking in as much of the Minecraft video game as possible to be better prepared to step into the live-action adaptation of that world.
Currently, a live-action Minecraft movie is in the works, and it was previously revealed that Jack Black would be starring as Steve, one of the playable main characters of the video game. In an interview with IGN, Black spoke about his role in the new video game adaptation. He shared how he’s been playing Minecraft nonstop for almost two months at this point, going on to reveal what useful bits of knowledge he has learned from the experience.

“An actor prepares, so, I have literally been exclusive to Minecraft for the last month and a half,” Black explained. “All Minecraft, all the time. I’m in a little movie called Minecraft – I don’t want to brag, but it’s kind of a big deal. Just Stevin’ it up in the Minecraft universe. Getting back into it, because I did I did play years ago, because my kids were super-duper into it, and I wanted to speak their language. So, I studied hard, and I learned, and I was getting really into it, building houses and tunneling around. And now I’m getting back into it. It’s pretty rad.”
